Online journal club featuring Prof. Koji Harano / オンライン輪読 featuring 原野幸治先生
当研究室では，論文を読む力や多角的な視点を養うことを目的に，平日のランチ後に毎日全員で30分程度のオンライン論文輪読会を行っています。輪読会では，1つのトピックに関して4~5報の論文を選び，1日1報のペースでメンバー全員で一緒に論文を読み，議論を交わします。現在取り組んでいる研究に直結する論文だけに限定せず，注目すべきトピックや研究者に焦点を当てて，さまざまな論文を読み漁っています。2020年度は合計 182 報の論文を読みました。
コロナ禍で急速に普及したオンラインツールの利点を生かして取り組みとして，昨年度の研究室ロックダウン期間中に2回，著者ご本人に登場いただいて質問攻めにするという取り組みを行いました (参考リンク：オンライン輪読 featuring 矢貝史樹先生 / 伊藤 肇先生)。その後，しばらく著者登場型のセミナーはお休みしていたのですが，今回「SMART-EM イメージング: 電子顕微鏡で分子をみる」というトピックで文献を読むのにあわせて，5/29 (木) に原野 幸治 先生 (東大 総括プロジェクト機構・特任准教授) にオンラインでご来臨いただき，濃密な議論を行いました。論文の内容から研究の裏話に至るまで色々とお聞かせいただき，大変勉強になりました。また，学部4回生にとっては初めて学外の研究者と研究に関して議論するチャンスとなり，とてもよい機会になりました。原野先生，どうもありがとうございました！
Our group has a 30-min journal club every weekday after lunchtime to cultivate the ability to read scientific papers and diverse perspectives. In this seminar, we usually select 4 to 5 original papers on one particular topic, read them together (at a pace of 1 paper/day), and discuss it.
By taking advantage of the online tools that have rapidly become popular due to the coronavirus pandemic, we had the online journal club with the author as a special guest twice during the laboratory lockdown period last year (see links: Online reading featuring Prof. Shiki Yagai and Prof. Hajime Ito). After that, we took a break from the seminars having the guest for a while, but this time, Dr. Koji Harano (The University of Tokyo) kindly joined us online on May 29, and we enjoyed an intensive discussion in conjunction with reading the literature on the topic “SMART-EM imaging.” We all thank Dr. Harano & look forward to seeing you in person soon!
