Kosuke and Takefumi left the group / 安井特定助教がご栄転，今西君が当研究室を卒業しました
安井孝介博士 (特定助教)，今西勇文くん (M2) が 2023年3月末で当研究室から旅立ちました。
2人はいずれも 2020年4月に深澤グループに参画しました。この3年間は，未曾有の感染症パンデミックにより大きく影響を受けた時期でした。特に参画当初は，いきなり研究室を閉鎖せねばならなくなったり，目新しいオンライン会議ツールでセミナーや勉強会を手探りで試したり，一番難しい時期でした。そんな中にあっても，安井特定助教は常に前向きな姿勢でグループを盛り上げてくれ，今西くんはコツコツ努力を続けて目覚ましく成長しました。そんな2人に敬意と感謝の意を評したいと思います。
安井さんは，反応開発や全合成研究の経験，合成反応に関する豊富な知識を活かし，グループ全体の研究を大幅に加速してくださいました。構造有機化学・機能性材料化学と合成化学の視点を結びつけるべく様々なチャレンジを行い，磯貝くんとの共著論文 (Eur. J. Org. Chem. 2022, 43, e202201029) のほか，安井さんならではの視点での成果があがってきています（投稿準備中）。また，大野教授 (京大院薬) との共同研究にも積極的に参画し，成果をまとめる上で多大な貢献をしてくださいました (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2021, 60, 27019)。頼りがいのあるお兄さんとして抜群の存在感を発揮していた安井さんは，4月から大阪大学大学院工学研究科応用化学専攻・平野研究室の助教として，次なるキャリアをスタートされます。
今西くんは，最初は新反応開発，のちに反芳香族化合物の研究テーマに果敢に取り組み，その過程で思いがけない偶然の発見によりとても面白い分子を創り出しました（投稿準備中）。持ち前の頭の回転の速さと，独特の渋いユーモアセンスを発揮し，グループに欠かすことのできない存在でした。4月からは，企業で新たな挑戦をスタートします。
3月20日に，2人に最後のプレゼンを行ってもらったあと，送別会を行いました。2人がいなくなるのはとても寂しいですが，それぞれの道で活躍されることを心より願っています。
At the end of March 2023, Dr. Kosuke Yasui (Program-Specific Assistant Professor) and Mr. Takefumi Imanishi (Master’s student) embarked on new journeys from our laboratory.
Both joined the Group in April 2020, during an unprecedented time heavily impacted by the global pandemic of COVID-19. Initially, they faced challenges such as sudden university lockdown and unfamiliar online meeting tools for group seminars. Throughout these difficulties, Kosuke consistently maintained a positive attitude and uplifted the group, while Takefumi persevered and demonstrated remarkable growth. We would like to express our utmost respect and gratitude for their contributions.
Kosuke utilized his extensive knowledge and experience in methodology development and total synthesis to significantly accelerate the group’s overall research progress. He undertook various challenges to connect physical organic chemistry and synthetic chemistry, resulting in several accomplishments, including a co-authored paper with Mr. Isogai (Eur. J. Org. Chem. 2022, 43, e202201029) and other unique findings currently being prepared for submission. Furthermore, he actively participated in a collaborative research project with Professor Ohno (Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Kyoto Univ.), making substantial contributions to the study (Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. 2021, 60, 27019). Kosuke will be starting his new career as an Assistant Professor at the Hirano Lab, Department of Applied Chemistry, Graduate School of Engineering, Osaka University.
Takefumi initially worked on developing new reactions and the development of novel antiaromatic compounds. During this process, he unexpectedly discovered intriguing molecules (currently being prepared for submission). With his quick wit and distinctive humor, Takefumi was an indispensable presence in the group. He will begin a new challenge in the industry, starting in April.
On March 20th, after their final presentations, we held a farewell party for both members. We wholeheartedly wish them success in their respective endeavors!
