Seminar: Prof. Graham Bodwell
2024年4月8日に，カナダ・Memorial University of Newfoundland の Graham Bodwell 教授をお迎えし，講演会を開催しました。Bodwell 先生は，湾曲π電子系の合成化学と物性について長年活発に研究を展開されているほか，ISNA (International Symposium on Novel Aromatic Compounds) の国際組織委員会メンバーや，Pacifichem の “Designed pi-electron system” に関するセッションオーガナイザーを長らく務められ，新奇π共役系の研究コミュニティの形成や若手の育成にも非常に熱意をもっておられる先生です。3月から化学研究所の客員教授として京都大学に滞在されており，この機会に吉田キャンパスの iCeMS にもお越しいただきました。今回のご講演では，Bodwell 先生が長年取り組んでおられる湾曲π電子系の合成化学や物性の探求についてお話いただきました。また，講演の前には研究室メンバーとのディスカッションにも快く応じてくださいました。Bodwell 先生，お立ち寄りありがとうございました！
We had the honor of hosting Professor Graham Bodwell from Memorial University of Newfoundland, Canada, for a special lecture. Professor Bodwell has been actively conducting research for many years in the field of synthetic chemistry and properties of curved π-electron sytems. In addition to his research, he is a member of the International Organizing Committee for the International Symposium on Novel Aromatic Compounds (ISNA) and has served as a session organizer for “Designed π-electron systems” at Pacifichem. His dedication to the formation of research communities in novel π-conjugated systems and mentoring young researchers is highly commendable.
Since March, Professor Bodwell has been a visiting professor at the Institute for Chemical Research at Kyoto University for three months. We were fortnate to have him visit iCeMS on the Yoshida Campus during his stay. In his lecture, Professor Bodwell shared his extensive work on the synthesis and properties of curved π-electron systems. Additionally, he kindly engaged in discussions with our team members before the lecture. Thank you, Graham, for your visit and inspiring lecture!
