Our group hosted “icembly” in June / 6月の “icembly” をお世話しました
2025年6月27日に，iCeMS の月例ネットワーキング行事 “icembly” を当グループでお世話しました。
月末の金曜日，おやつ時間に行われるイベントです。暑さも本格的になってきたので，水出しアイスコーヒーや水出し緑茶など色んな冷たい飲み物を用意しました。また，Helena と Lara が協力して，オーストラリアの伝統菓子である Honey Joy と Lamington を準備してくれました。さらには，暑さも本格的になってきたので，夏の特別企画として，iCeMS 研究棟の脇でスイカ割りを決行し，大盛況のうちに終了しました。ご参加くださった多くのみなさん，どうもありがとうございました！交流や研究の息抜きの一助になったならば存外の喜びです。また，企画段階から当日準備，片付けまで全面的に協力してくれた研究室のみなさんに心より感謝します。
そんなわけで，当グループにはスイカ割り用の木刀が導入されました。ほかによい置き場所がないので，教授室の傘立てに立て掛けられております…。（深澤教授は何か変な誤解を受けないか毎日心配しています。）近隣の皆様，スイカ割りをやりたいときにはいつでもお貸ししますので，お知らせください！
On June 27, our group hosted this month’s “icembly,” the monthly networking event in our institute, iCeMS.
This casual Friday-afternoon gathering is all about catching up over snacks and teas, and since the summer heat was coming in, we prepared a variety of chilled drinks like cold brew coffee and iced green tea. Helena and Lara teamed up to make some classic Australian treats, Honey Joys and Lamingtons, which were a big hit! To top it off, we added a special summer twist to the event with a good authentic watermelon smashing (“suikawari” in Japanese) session right next to the iCeMS research building. We enjoyed a lot, and are really grateful to everyone who joined. We hope it offered a nice break from work and helped spark some new connections.
Huge thanks as well as to our team members who helped with everything from planning to setup and cleanup. We couldn’t have done it without you!
And on that note… our lab now officially owns a wooden sword for watermelon smashing. With no better place to store it, it’s currently placed in the umbrella stand of Aiko’s office, who, by the way, is mildly concerned it might raise a few eyebrows. To our fellow researchers: if you are ever in need of a suikawari setup, feel free to borrow it anytime, Just give us a shout!
